          Wofford College installs Samhat as its 11th president

          Upon a Bible that belonged to Wofford College founder Benjamin Wofford, Nayef Samhat officially accepted the charge to lead the institution as its 11th president.

          Samhat took the post 10 months ago, but was installed during a ceremony Friday morning.

          5. He gave an inauguration address on the front lawn of the campus' Main Building before an audience of hundreds, including delegates from more than 70 colleges and universities.

          Michael James asked Samhat if he accepted the charge. Samhat, with his wife, Prema, at his side, replied, “I seize this opportunity that has been presented to me.”

          The new president gave thanks to faculty and administration at Kenyon College, where he served as provost and professor before coming to Wofford and to his extended Wofford family, from faculty to students to alumni and friends of the college.
